Here at WT Johnson we have developed the craft of milling into fine art. We offer a full range of milling from light crush to blind flannel. Our experts achieve this using a variety of machines, from single piece milling machines, to computer controlled bulk milling machines.

Over the years, investing in the best machinery available has paid handsome dividends. We have also used our design and engineering skills to develop our own original processes and machines that are found nowhere else in the world. However we don’t believe in change for change’s sake and we still use an original wooden Dolly Scourer for cleaning and developing the finest woollen fabrics. We also use a groundbreaking Jet Scour machine and we have developed an environmentally friendly Solvent Scour to complete our scouring processes.

We work with many of the world’s leading designers and tailors, who demand that their fabrics remain stable and never shrink during garment making. The batch decating machine ensures the highest levels of batch-to-batch consistency.

A continuous high temperature setting provides high level continuity and a superb permanent finish.

Fabric of the quality that we produce has to be precisely dried to achieve the perfect finish. We use a combination of machinery to accurately control the mechanical removal of the residual water and then dry it using a gas fired dryer all under the watchful eye of an experienced master dryer.

Cropping removes the surface fibres improving the look and performance of a fabric. Due to high levels of capital investment we can offer a variety of cropping options suitable for the very finest luxury worsteds through to traditional natural woollens.
